Theme four: Different forms of media

Hello :)
After hard work, here we present theme four!!

First of all, we have look at different online newspaper the same new - The new 20 euros bill - and we have compared both because they don't treat it in the same way.

"LA VANGUARDIA"

"This is the new bill of 20 euros. It has a new mark of security and it will be available the 25th november. This inovation it will be more safety than the others. This year we have 17.500 millions of bills of 20 euros moving around the world and will be replaced by this new bill of 20. "

"EL PERIÓDICO"

"The new bill of 20 euros it will start to be available the 25th november. This renovation contains new mesures of security more sophisticated. This new bill will be more secure than the others and maybe in the future the BCE will probably change the others bills like 50, 100, 200 and 500 euros. This year we have 4.300 milions of bills of 20 euros around the world."

As we can see, we have information of differents newspapers from Spain and they say the same new but one of them have invented some of the numbers of the quantity of bills that it have the world.

Now we are going to talk about how the less important news are told in the different mass media.

Online magazine

El Periódico online

As we can see at the two pictures, the same notice is told different between a newspaper and an online magazine.

The newspaper explains it in a more formal way. Talking about the grant and how the student will get it.

The online magazine it’s written with some mistakes and in a more informal way.

To sum up, we can’t trust at all about the news we hear or read because all different mass media have different priorities.

In part three we were asked to explore newspapers looking for sensationalism to find examples of how media don’t report honestly exaggerating the importance of something or to trying to affect public’s opinion in some way.
We have been looking for examples that could answer the question asked before and we think we have found one that is very adapted.

Browsing on Facebook we saw a post from an acquaintance that was explaining the following thing:

The post translated into English:

"On Sunday 19th I went to an inauguration from a new library in Sant Carles de la Ràpita (a village) and, with my, my daughters.

The person who was in charge to inaugurate the library was the current president from Catalonia Artur Mas and while the adults were visiting the library, the young (my daughters and more children from my colleagues) were happy in the children’s room reading tales.

The president Mas, went through the children’s room and said hello to every child and had a little conversation with them too.  When he was talking to my little daughter Edurne, she was holding up a book that was about the letter E ( of course! Is her letter and that’s why she chose that book). The president asked her if she could show him the book and so she did.

President: What letter is that?
Edurne: It’s E
President: And what’s your name?
Edurne: Edurne

And that was all. Everybody was smiling because of the friendliness that the president always has, specially with the children.
Now, if you want to read a heavy story don’t lose the following article from the newspaper: “Las voces del pueblo”. This is not manipulating the information; this is pure fiction!

The article:

Part of the article translated into English:

MAS AND HIS WIFE LAUGHING FROM A SPANISH BOY FOR STUDYING IN SPANISH

The president from the separatist Catalan Government, Artur Mas Gavarró, and his wife, Helena Rakosnik laughing at a little boy for studying in Spanish. “Let's see, where is this book from? Show me the cover", requires Artur Mas, president of the Catalan child. "The E, E, E, E!, Ouii!" Exclaimed Artur’s Mas wife, both maximum representatives of Catalan citizens having the book on their hands.

It took place this Sunday, January 19, 2015, during the inauguration of the new Public Library of Sant Carles de La Ràpita in “Les Terres de l’Ebre”, located in the south of Catalonia.

We think this is a clear example of how media don’t report honestly exaggerating things that are not true. On the other hand, we believe that the newspaper is trying to affect public’s opinion because as you would know there have been and there are some problems between Catalonia and Spain. This problems exist because the majority of the people from Catalonia wants it to be independent from Spain.
What we are trying to say is that people who don’t want the independence tries to affect other’s people opinion so that way Catalan people will be frowned upon and will have a lot of difficulties to get the independence
.

In this section, and for a little fun, we have looked at tabloid press and we have found four examples of "famous" people that appears in this type of press all time. Then we have examined why these people are famous and if they really deserve to be.

Finally we think that these people are celebrities for no reason in particular. They are persons who have no particular talents or abilities. We would say that they are famous for being famous.
